In consultation with the instructor, Aikido is
available to all ages from 12 up for the adults class and 4 – 11 for the
children’s class. Age, fitness level, previous experience nor many disabilities
should bar people from investigating Aikido.
As a non competitive martial art, success in Aikido is simply a matter of
attendance and personal improvement.
Among the fitness benefits, Aikido also teaches co-ordination, communication,
discipline and respect. Learn how to defend yourself in a relaxed and positive
environment.
Please feel free to start with comfortable clothes such as a tracksuit and
t-shirt. Once you are ready for your first grading you will require a
traditional Gi which can be obtained from martial arts suppliers or occasionally
through the club. As you continue to learn, 2 classes a week will be needed to
prepare you for your gradings beyond yellow belt.
